What is a tummy tuck?
A tummy tuck, medically known as abdominoplasty, removes loose skin and stubborn fat from the abdomen and tightens the muscles underneath. The result is a firmer, flatter, more toned midsection. It's most effective after pregnancy, after major weight loss, or when diet and exercise no longer shift loose skin and a soft lower belly.
The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and usually takes two to five hours, depending on the type. Most patients spend one to two nights in hospital before moving into recovery. Full results settle over six to twelve months as swelling fades.
A tummy tuck doesn't just flatten the stomach. For many patients it restores core strength and confidence that pregnancy or weight loss had worn away.
The four tummy tuck types we offer
Your surgeon assesses how much loose skin you have, where it sits, and the state of your abdominal muscles at consultation, then recommends the right approach with a clear reason. Your exact price depends on the type and any add-ons, and you receive it in one clear, all-inclusive quote. Full pricing sits in the package deals below.

Full tummy tuck
Best for significant loose skin and separated or weakened muscles, most often after several pregnancies or major weight loss.
The incision runs hip to hip, just above the pubic line. The surgeon removes excess skin and fat, tightens the abdominal muscles, and repositions the navel so it looks natural.
- Recovery: light activity in 1 to 2 weeks; strenuous activity after 6 weeks.
- Full results: 6 to 12 months.
Mini tummy tuck
Best for a small amount of loose skin low on the belly, below the navel, with good muscle tone above.
A shorter incision sits above the pubic area. The surgeon removes skin and fat below the navel and leaves the navel in place. It's a lighter procedure with a faster recovery.
Extended tummy tuck
Best when loose skin reaches beyond the belly to the flanks, or love handles, which is common after large weight loss.
This works like a full tummy tuck but extends further around the sides to remove skin and fat from the flanks as well.
360° tummy tuck (belt lipectomy)
Best for major skin laxity all the way around the midsection after significant weight loss.
This removes skin and fat around the entire waistline in one procedure, covering the belly, flanks, lower back, and waist, and it often includes muscle repair. It delivers full, all-around body contouring.
Which tummy tuck is right for you
How much loose skin you have matters more than any single number. A rough guide:
- A little loose skin, only below the navel, good muscle tone — a mini tummy tuck. Anything more is overcorrection.
- Loose skin and softened muscles across the whole abdomen — a full tummy tuck.
- Loose skin that continues around to the flanks — an extended tummy tuck.
- Loose skin all the way around after major weight loss — a 360° tummy tuck.
Your surgeon tells you which type suits your body and why, rather than leaving you to work it out from a menu. You'll talk it all through on a free video consultation before you commit. Talk to a Beauty Butler coordinator.
Recovery — what two weeks in Bangkok actually look like
A tummy tuck is the operation. The two weeks afterwards decide how comfortable, supported, and well-healed you are when you fly home. A typical recovery stay with us:
Days 1–2 — In hospital. One to two nights in a private room at a JCI-accredited Bangkok hospital. Nurses on call, pain managed, and early gentle walking to help your circulation. You're monitored and discharged once your surgeon clears you.
Days 3–4 — Transition to recovery. We transfer you from hospital to your accommodation, a spacious one-bedroom apartment in central Bangkok set up for this stage of healing. Read about our recovery accommodation. Our nurse meets you, helps you settle in, and starts your recovery routine. Swelling and tightness peak around now, and moving slowly is normal.
Daily nurse visits. From the moment you reach the apartment, one of our own registered nurses visits you every day through about day seven. They handle wound checks, dressing and drain care, help with your compression garment, watch your swelling, and answer whatever you're noticing as you heal. This is included, not an add-on, and it's separate from the hospital's ward nurses.
Days 6–8 — Active recovery. Any drains and stitches typically come out around this point, and standing upright gets easier. From about day seven you can have lymphatic drainage massage at your apartment, given by a separate therapist, to help clear post-op swelling. Your follow-up appointment with your surgeon also falls in this window. We book it, arrange the transfer, and a coordinator goes with you. Most patients are ready for a gentle outing too, like a slow morning at Jim Thompson House or a quiet floating market. We pace it to where you actually are.
Days 9–11 — Feeling steadier. Swelling keeps easing and you can walk more comfortably, though still upright and careful. Nurse visits and further lymphatic drainage continue as helpful.
Days 12–14 — Ready to fly home. A final check with your surgeon and clearance for travel. We arrange your airport transfer. Keep avoiding heavy lifting and hard exercise for six weeks, and keep wearing your compression garment as advised.
After you fly home. You're never on your own once you leave Thailand. Your surgeon stays available for follow-up consultations whenever you need them, and our team is only ever a message away, for any question, big or small, long after you're home. Your care doesn't end at the airport.
Why patients choose Beauty Butler
Most agencies in Bangkok offer comparable surgeons, comparable hospitals, and comparable prices. The difference is the aftercare, and the trust you can build before you commit.
- A personal coordinator and daily nurse visits at your apartment. One named coordinator owns your experience from arrival through your flight home and beyond. Our own registered nurse visits your apartment every day through the first week, for wound and drain care, compression support, and honest answers as you heal.
- A consultation with your surgeon before you book. You meet your surgeon, ask your questions, and see how they think about your case, then decide whether to go ahead. No deposit pressure, and no committing before you've spoken with the person performing your surgery.
- Surgeons we've personally vetted, at JCI-accredited hospitals. Not a marketplace or a directory. A small group of Thai Board-certified plastic surgeons we work with directly, chosen for their outcomes and judgement. Meet our surgeons.
- One honest all-inclusive quote, no hidden add-ons. The number you're quoted is the number you pay, with medication, compression garment, transfers, accommodation, and aftercare already included. A 15% deposit secures your booking, and the balance is due two weeks before your surgery, not on arrival. Instalment options are available for AU and NZ patients.
- Recovery designed around healing. A spacious one-bedroom apartment rather than a standard hotel room, in-apartment lymphatic drainage from day seven, and gentle outings paced to your recovery. Follow-up surgeon appointments arranged and accompanied.
After you fly home, we're always available for any concerns.

Tummy tuck packages with Beauty Butler start from THB 119,000 (about USD 3,700), and the price depends on the type you need and any add-ons such as liposuction. Every package includes the surgical fee, hospital stay, anaesthesia, post-op medication, compression garment, all transfers, accommodation, daily nurse visits, and aftercare, laid out clearly before you confirm with no hidden add-ons. Instalment options are available for AU and NZ patients.
You may be a good fit if you have loose or sagging belly skin that diet and exercise won't fix. Many patients come to us after pregnancy to restore their pre-pregnancy shape, and others after major weight loss with excess skin left behind. Your surgeon confirms whether the procedure suits you before anything is booked.
A full tummy tuck treats the whole abdomen. It removes more skin, tightens the muscles, and repositions the navel. A mini tummy tuck treats only the area below the navel, through a smaller incision, and leaves the navel in place. Your surgeon recommends the right one for your body.
A full tummy tuck usually takes around four to five hours, while a mini tummy tuck takes about two to three hours. The exact time depends on how much work your plan involves and whether it's combined with other procedures.
It can remove stretch marks on the skin that's taken away, usually below the navel. Stretch marks outside that area will stay, though they often look less obvious once the loose skin is tightened.
Results are long lasting when you keep a stable weight and a healthy lifestyle. A big weight change or a later pregnancy can affect them. Most patients enjoy their flatter, firmer shape for many years.
Often, yes. A tummy tuck is commonly paired with liposuction, breast surgery, or a full mommy makeover, which combines recovery into a single trip. Your surgeon will tell you which combinations are sensible for your body and which would be too much in one operation.
Yes, when it's performed by a qualified plastic surgeon at a JCI-accredited hospital with proper screening and aftercare. Every patient has a full pre-surgery health check first, including blood tests. Beauty Butler works only with surgeons we've personally vetted, and a coordinator and nurse support you through the whole recovery. The risks are no different from a tummy tuck performed anywhere else to the same standards.
We recommend about two weeks in Thailand. That window lets the most acute swelling settle, drains and stitches come out, and your surgeon clear you for long-haul travel. Flying earlier is possible but not what we'd advise, since a long flight so soon after abdominal surgery isn't ideal for healing.
